International Student Employment Program

The International Student Employment Program (ISEP) supports the hiring of Acadia’s international students in meaningful on-campus roles during the Fall and Winter semesters. The program aims to create equitable, accessible, and supportive employment opportunities that enhance both professional and academic development.

How the Program Works

  • Employment Terms: Positions are 7 hours per week at $16/hour (including vacation pay).

  • Duration: Runs during Fall and Winter semesters.

  • One Position at a Time: Each student can hold only one ISEP-funded position per term.

  • Funding: Subsidy funding is provided to approved on-campus employers to offset wages.

Why Hire an International Student?

International students bring diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences to campus roles. Many face additional barriers to employment, such as transportation challenges or hiring discrimination in the local labour market. ISEP helps address these barriers by:

  • Providing on-campus jobs that are accessible and inclusive.

  • Supporting students’ skill development through real work experience.

  • Connecting academic learning to professional growth.

Employer Responsibilities

ISEP funding is available to on-campus employers who can:

  • Provide meaningful, skill-building work that supports student learning.

  • Ensure the student meets ISEP eligibility criteria.

  • Follow all program guidelines and timelines.

The Career and Experiential Learning (CEL) Office supports students with resume reviews, interview preparation, and job application guidance.
