International Student Employment Program
The International Student Employment Program (ISEP) supports the hiring of Acadia’s international students in meaningful on-campus roles during the Fall and Winter semesters. The program is designed to create additional employment opportunities for international students while supporting their professional and academic development.
How the Program Works
- Employment Terms: ISEP funding supports positions of up to 7 hours per week at $17/hour plus vacation pay.
- Duration: Positions may be funded for 10 weeks in the Fall, 10 weeks in the Winter, or both terms.
- Funding: ISEP covers 50% of the eligible employment cost, with the hiring department responsible for the remaining 50%.
- Additional Hours or Higher Wages: Departments may choose to offer more than 7 hours per week or pay more than $17/hour, but are responsible for the full cost of any additional hours or wage top-up.
- New Hires Only: ISEP funding must be used to create an additional employment opportunity for an international student. Funding cannot be applied to a student who has already been hired.
- One Position at a Time: Each student may hold only one ISEP-funded position per term.
Why Hire an International Student?
International students bring diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences to campus roles. ISEP helps expand access to meaningful on-campus employment by:

- Supporting students in developing skills and experience they can carry into future employment.
- Connecting students’ academic experience with professional growth.
Employer Responsibilities
ISEP funding is available to on-campus employers who can:
- Cover 50% of the eligible employment costs.
- Provide meaningful work that supports student learning and skill development.
- Recruit for a new hire rather than using ISEP to subsidize a student who has already been hired.
- Review applications and make their own hiring decision.
- Follow all ISEP program guidelines and timelines.
Once funding is approved, positions will be posted to the student job board. Student applications will be sent directly to the position supervisor, who will review applicants and make the hiring decision.
Career and Experiential Learning can also support international students with resumes, interview preparation, and job application guidance.
